Price ≠ Weight in Gold‑Plated Silver Jewellery
We show both price and weight for transparency. But they are not directly linked — please don’t judge our jewellery by “price per gram”.
The per‑gram myth (and why it misleads)
- Silver is the heaviest component in most pieces — and the cheapest per gram.
- Pearls & stones drive value: studded pearls are typically ~10–15× the price of silver per gram at wholesale.
- Lab‑grown colour stones we use are high‑quality, consistently graded, and chosen for design — not “filler”.
- Hanging/stringing beads in our pieces are authentic pearls, rubies, emeralds and sapphires.
What actually determines the price
- Design & craftsmanship: carving, jaali work, stone‑setting, finish.
- Stones & pearls: grade, cut, polish, matching, secure settings.
- Gold plating: thickness, multi‑layer process, top‑coat protection.
- Fit & engineering: balanced weight, comfort, sturdy joints/clasps.
- Quality control & after‑sales: inspection, repairs, re‑plating.
How to read our product pages
- Price reflects materials and labour‑intensive craft.
- Weight is for comfort and size reference — not for ₹/g comparisons.
- Materials are clearly disclosed: lab‑grown vs natural where relevant.
- Craft notes: many pieces finished by artisans trained on fine gold work.
A simple illustration (why ₹/g doesn’t work)
Total weight = mostly silver (heavy, inexpensive) + a few grams of pearls/stones (light, higher value) + skilled handwork (not measured in grams). Using ₹/g over‑values the cheapest ingredient and under‑values the real artistry.
FAQs
Why do you list the weight at all?
So you can gauge comfort and scale (especially for earrings/neckpieces) and compare sizes between designs.
Are lab‑grown (synthetic) stones low quality?
No. Lab‑grown stones have consistent colour/clarity and are chosen intentionally for design and value. Where we use natural gems, we state that clearly.
Will the gold plating last?
We use multi‑layer plating with protective top coats. Longevity depends on wear and care. Avoid perfume/lotions on the piece, wipe after use, and store in pouches. Re‑plating support is available.
If two pieces weigh the same, why can prices differ?
Different stones, more intricate handwork, denser plating, or complex assemblies can change the price even at the same weight.
